I woke up and for the first time throughout this whole trip, i was dreading today. Today was it, time to say good bye. I finished packing the last of my stuff and tripple checked that i wasnt leaving anything behind before the bell man came and collected our 4000 bags. We had a bufet breakfast before nanna suggested i do something to leave my mark on new york. so as we had time to kill, we headed down to the stationary shop, bought a permadent marker and lock and walked up to the brooklyn bridge. I wrote my name, the date and 'new york, bye for now not forever.' i then locked it to the bridge and moped back to the hotel. We checked out at 1pm and got an SUV cab to the airport. It took just over an hour to get to JFK because of traffic but thank god immigration and check in was easy. Whilst in the seated area waiting for our flight to be called, we got lunch and i just sat there with a very sad look on my face. Although i missed home, mum, colin, my friends and rusty, I really didnt want to leave.
But that was it. Before i knew it, we were on our way. I stared out the window at new york as we took off and had a little cry inside. A head of us was a six hour flight to L.A. and then a 18hr flight back to Melbourne. What an absolute dream the past eight weeks were. Im so determined now more than ever to return to this concrete jungle sooner rather than later. Until next time 'Merica...
