After arriving at Neil's, we spent a brilliant week looking around Brisbane, spending time with the kids and getting to go to Dreamworld! Sadly we had to leave and moved on to Noosa. Because we only had an afternoon there we walked around the pretty little town, beach and went on a small trek through the national park for a koala hunt (none were found though). We then spent a luxurious night in a motel before heading up to Rainbow Beach for our Fraser Island trip! We set off early the next day after packing up our truck with all our food and tents in our group of 9 girls and 1 guy. After catching the ferry across to the island, we made our way to the beautiful Lake McKenzie to sunbathe in the rain. Also that day we got to see the Maheno wreck and found a place to set up camp on the beach - spending hours setting up the tents and cooking. Very very early the next morning we had to pack up all our stuff (after doing our washing up in the sea) and headed to Indian Head before we got caught by the tide. There we saw a stingray! And then went to the champagne pools and Eli creek. We made another stop off at Lake McKenzie the next morning (this time in the sun) before getting on proper road again and having to give the truck back. Quickly before leaving for Hervey Bay we visited the huge Carlo Sandblows. There was nothing much to do in Hervey Bay, but paddle in the sea - in the rain, surprisingly we were the only ones on the beach. We then stopped off for a night at Rockhampton, which was unexpectedly great. After 7 hours sleep on the coach we arrived in Airlie Beach, where we were met by Peter and Margret! For the next couple of days we just lounged around by their pool and around the lagoon - and also met our friend tom again. Tuesday evening we boarded our boat - the Solway Lass. After a very rough ride we stopped for the night very excited about the next day at Whitehaven beach. The beach was perfect - although having to put on stinger suits to get in the water was a pain (however very fetching). The next day was full of snorkeling and swing roping; we saw loads of different fish and coral, however the morning after we got to swim with turtles! That evening back on land we said a final goodbye to our group and tom. Magnetic Island was our next stop where we finally got to see a wild koala asleep in a tree. It was a bit annoying not being able to drive the pink 'topless' cars around the island, but instead we went to the beach. Mission beach turned out to be one of our best stops as we booked a day of rafting down the River Tully - which was so much fun. Both of us were right at the front of the boat and therefore in charge of the rowing timing - which we were brilliant at. We bought all the photos and DVD which are really entertaining. We finally took our last trip on the Greyhound up to our last destination in Australia, Cairns. Straight away we had a two day trip up to Cape Tribulation; on the way up we took a crocodile cruise (we saw 4 altogether and one eating a pig!) and a rainforest walk before our long awaited horse ride. We rode across the beach and weaved through the rainforest on Wombat and Billy. We spent a relaxing evening and morning at the resort before visiting the Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas (where we had to choose out of 46 different ice-cream flavours!). We've been back in Cairns since, and spent yesterday out on the Reef for yet again more snorkeling, looking at more amazing fish and coral. Although we're sad about leaving here, we're so excited about our next stop, New Zealand!
