Hola. . .sorry its been awhile since I have written on here!!! I just got back to Choloteca at the missionaries house after spending a week in a hotel in Comayagua. It was in the mountains and absolutely gorgeous!!! It was also a lot cooler which was a nice change from the hot, sticky weather here in Choloteca!! This past week was a team from my church, it was really nice to see from familiar faces get off the airplane. It was a medical trip so we went to 5 different areas and set up the clinic.
What happens at the clinic is the people come in a register. They say what symptoms they are having and what they want to see the doctor for. A lot of times people are lined up waiting to get in before we even get there. After registration they go over and are "evangelized" to. Different people from the team or from the church we are at present the gospel to them and give them an opportunity to receive Christ. We want to help them physically with medicines but first off and most importantly we want to help them spiritually by telling them about Christ! After that they get there blood pressures taken and then they are sent to one of the doctors for an evaluation. After the doctor sees them he/she writes out a prescription and sends them to the pharmacy to get their medicine.
This week I worked in the pharmacy. The last medical team I worked in it also so I have some experience. Most of the time its non-stop constantly filling prescriptions and trying to find the medicine and counting out pills. Its a lot of work but its also really enjoyable. Because you get to see first hand the people you are helping and to see how appreciative they are of vitamins, parasite medicine, or whatever else they need is unbelievable.
On Monday we were at a church in downtown Comayagua. One of the interpreters, Pamela, it was her church. We saw about 300 people and had about 30 salvations!!
On Tuesday we were at another church. We saw about 350 patients and had about 150 salvations!!!
Wednesday was definitely an experience. They said we were going up in the mountains and they definitely were not kidding. We had to ride in trucks because our van wouldn't make it up. Then they dropped us off at the base and said we had to walk the rest of the way!!! It wasn't too bad but I definitely was out of breath at the top. But the scenery was beautiful and you could see for miles. We all definitely felt like "real" missionaries. lol. We actually set up the clinic in a school and saw about 250 patients. That area was definitely the poorest area we went to all week.
Thursday we were at a church but it was in a nicer, richer area so there was not a lot of people that came. We were kind of disappointed but we still were able to help 150 people.
On Friday we drove an hour up in the mountains again to a city called "Eyes of Water". The drive was absolutely gorgeous and the mountains were beautiful and we actually had to drive over a swinging bridge to get to the church. It was definitely an experience.
Saturday was our sightseeing day. We went shopping in the morning and then went to a beautiful lake that was in the mountains. We took a boat out and got to see everything. The view was breathtaking!!! Then we went to a waterfall that was just gorgeous!!! Those were probably some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life. I will adding pictures in the next couple days so yall can see them.
I miss everyone and thank yall again for all the prayers and encouraging words. You don't know how much they mean to me. Dios le vendiga. Adios!!! :)
