Started this day off right! I had breakfast with my sister Amelia and her husband Raul. I can't believe they have been married 43 years! Hearty serving of Barbacoa de Cabeza on corn tortillas! Now traditionally this is a beef head that is cooked in a hole in the ground over several hours. I don't know how it is done these days but damn that is good eating. The meat is super tender and tasty. You just scoop some into a corn tortilla and away you go!...

My first day in Corpus Christi, TX and all I can think of is to relax and unwind from the ride. I slept in a little this morning and then just lay in bed for a while after I woke up. Diane picked me up at 7:30 am on the dot! Man is she punctual. I got back to Diane's daughter's place and suited up for the ride. It's early and I can already tell this is going to be a hot day. Thanks to Diane and her daughter, my bike is safe in their garage and loaded up for the most part. Minor adjustments and I am ready to hit the rod. Up early and ready to get on the road! Looks like two more days to Corpus Christi, TX! Yesterday, I stopped at the first roadside fruit stand I saw. I about slammed on the brakes and crossed lanes to stop. You have to remember that I live in Ketchikan, Alaska, on a rock, in a rain forest.
