Saturday 26th April............continued
Ok, so I had a great evening with Zac and we had the most amazing japanese food...I had cabbage and mayo whioch was so good, this soup, and also chicken, prawns and steak all in amazing sauces and with lots of bacon and mayo!! After that we headed to Zac's house and I went to bed pretty early, I was so tired plus there is a 2 hour time difference, so I was wrecked!!
Sunday 27th April..................Auckland with Tour Guide Zac
I spent the day with Zac today, I surfaced at midday, and he cooked me an amazing gourmet egg on toast!! Loving this the Parish is properly looking after me!! Then we went into town I had to buy some new trousers!! As it is pretty bloody freezing and I need some warm clothes!! In the afternoon, Zac helped me plan my New Zealand trip! He told me all the great places to do the activites, the sky dive, bungy and white water rapids!! He really helped me out and being the dare devil he is he's done it all so its good advice!!!! In the evening, I meet Braydon, Sheree's little boy and he is a cutey, makes me miss my little bro!! For sure!! I have an early night as I am off on the start of my Kiwi Experience tomorrow!! Woohoo!!!
Monday 28th April............First Day on the Kiwi Experience!!
I say an emotional goodbye to Zac, it has been so nice to stay and have the family connection!! And he drops me at the hostel for my pick up!! I jump on the bus and we head north of the North Island, to Paihia!! At the first stop I meet a girl I met at the start of the Oz Experience in Australia...which was pretty cool!! We had a few stops for food, and a walk in the forest, to look at the Kauri Tree, the tree used by the Maori people!! We reach Paihia in the afternoon, and go for a walk to the Waitanga Historical Centre, here we learn about the native Maori people, and its pretty cool. They were warriors and put up more of a resistance to the colonists than the aboriginals did!! We had an awesome lunch in the centre's cafe and the cakes were just amazing!! I had a lazy evening and made friends with Nicole, a German girl and also Brian who is like a 70 year old grandad he was so lovely!! In the evening we all discuss New Zealand, and I get the low down on the great places to do stuff, and we devour a $12 BBQ!!!
Tuesday 29th April...............Day trip to Cape Reinga
Up early again, we jump on the bus and head to Cape Reinga, this is the most northernly point of the North Island and it is where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean!! The day starts a little dull, but gets much better!! We stop at another tree sight and are told more about the Maori people and their tribes!! Next we head to a cafe and I have a massive slice of Banana cake for brekky!! Ahhhhhhh it was so nice! Next stop is 90 Mile Beach (which is actually 88km) and we jump off and get some beach pics and some sand ones!! Then we head to the sand dunes!! Here we are given a short briefing and a body board and are let loose on the sand dunes!! It is a killer to climp up the 120m practically vertical sand dune but then when we shoot down the sand on the boards it is a right laugh!! We gety totally sand covered!! And it is not so tasty!!
Next stop is the beach, where we enjoy our lunch but the weather takes a turn and we have to head to the Cape where the lighthouse is before it rains too heavily!! The forecast predicted gale force winds and possible cyclones...hurricanes...so we didn't fancy getting stuck in them too much!! Sadly, the highlight at the Lighthouse was very misty so we couldn't see to far, but we did manage to see where the sea meets and taht was pretty cool!! Back on the bus we headed home, stopping at a fish and chip stop and getting a huge meal for $6 that is like less than 2 pound!! Also we stopped at a little fruit store and I bought Kiwis, Oranges and Apples for only $5...BARGAIN!!
That night I was wrecked and the weather was shocking, it rained so much it flooded the hostel and we had to stay in our room!! But it was fun, as we watched a good film! Went to bed pretty early as it was a pretty full on day and I was knackered!!!
Wednesday 30th April...............Back to Auckland!
Today we tried to get a sky dive in the Bay of Islands, but sadly the weather did not permit!! So we mooched around, I wrote my journal and had a nice chees toastie from a little cafe next to the hostel!! We were picked up by the bus at 3pm and then we had a direct route through to Auckland, we watched Bad Santa and slept most of the way!! In the evening, I went for a wonder with Nicole and also got friendly with the Argentinians in my room, I was speaking more Spanish as they were not very good at English and it was a laugh, they were so drunk and funny! I met their Chillian friend too but he was a slimy perv so we steered clear of him!! I had an early night, I am so knacered for some reason, trying to catch up after too much partying in Australia I think!!
Thursday 1st May.....................
Today I mooched round Auckland and went shoppiong with Nicole!! She is really lovely but quite hard work as there is a language barrier and she is just sooooooooooo different to us English!! I bought a load of food to keep me going for a few days and then we headed to the market to buy fruit and veg, only to find it was a clothes market...great!! I made plans to meet Zac again in the evening, so I cooked a Spag Bol for lunch, went to use the net, and then headed out to meet him! We went to the WOrld's Best Kebab Restaurant, and the lamb meat was soooooooooooooooo good, and I covered it with Garlic Sauce so I smelt great!! It was sad to say goodbye (again) as I would not see him again for a few years I expect but I promised to stay in touch, as he will be able to give me the know on the Kiwi Bus!! I then met the Argentinians in the bar, and we had a boogie and party in the bar!! Oh and I was tapped on teh shoulder onlt to find a police man behind me and he asked for my I.D...it was so funny, I got a picture too...I just look way to young...apparantly!!! I headed to bed at 1:30am ready to get up early on the bus the next day!! Woohoo!!
