 I'm guessing the shark was a Wobbegong, probably a spooted.  Tangalooma is supposedly famous for dolphins; did you see any of those?

 The Aussies describe a trip to Cairns as going Tropo; in your case you were in Cairns before you left the UK!

 If you head north of Cairns i'd like to see pictures of Mossman Gorge please.
