I couldn't have asked for a better four days in Singapore. It was a great place to ease myself into travel mode with efficient public transportation, clean, safe and everyone was friendly and spoke English. With many districts in such close proximity, little India, Chinatown and my favorite Kampong Glam there was always something new to see. The popular Orchard road was worth going to see with its 6 story malls and crowded streets but really only enjoyed it for the air conditioning breaks from the 40 plus humid weather. As commercial as it was, at the end of the road it leads you right into the botanical gardens, which made it all worth it. Inside was the National orchid garden, the largest in the world, small rain forest reserve, ponds and my favourite for obvious reasons the healing garden. I could have spent an entire day in the healing garden, but apparently that's where the bees like it too...so I did my best at listing the naturopathic plants and flowers and got out ASAP, never saw bees like these ones, didn't even have the guts to get a pic with the zoom. After having had a taste of Singapore's nature, the next day I went to the Bukit Timah national reserve, the remaining 3% of Singapore's rainforest. I climbed the summit and hiked the trails watching out for flying squirrels, lizards and lemurs. Paradise. Needless to say, the pictures will never do a rainforest justice. Beauty money can never buy, just destroy. My third night was spent at Marina bay and the Colonial district with Vicente, local from the hostel ( Pillow. Talk,...great hostel with great intentions) that thought me so much about his home, couldn't have asked for a better night. My last day I went to visit Sentosa island to soak up the sun and go for a swim, nice but a bit too busy with universal studio attractions going on. Took a walk through Chinatown, enjoying the markets, temples and bubble tea! Singapore is a great place :) Next Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
