16th February – The ‘longest day’ of our lives..... (Denise’s quote, you will see why later). Arrived in Perth at 00.30. Flew through horrendous thunderstorm just south of Singapore, fantastic through the windows though. Had good seats at back of plane, last row. Good flight though and the flight staff were great again. Met another thunderstorm coming over land on Australia, this one effected the plane, rough hour on the plane, landing was rocky too. Immigration was fine, the security said ‘welcome home’ to us.
Got met at arrivals by Den, Dave, Judy and Barry. That was sweet especially at 1.15 in the morning. Exchanged hugs and all and chatted for a while and made the journey back to Denise’s. We sat round the patio table and chatted till 3.45am with a good glass of wine(ish). During that time Rob woke up and joined us for a coffee and he went to work. We thought it was time to go to bed!!
I got up at 8.15am and Ade up at 10.00 thus the long day continues...... Breakfast of toast and put some washing in, stinking clothes from Singapore. We went down to Lakeside to browse round the shops, Ade bought some clothes to stock up on the lack of clothes he bought with him. Bumped into Judy and Barry at the shops so returned to the coffee shop to sit and chat with them for a while. We came home and sat around the table to chat, and it was still Wednesday........
Dave and Rachel and Laim arrived for a drink and chatted some more. Rob arrived home, chatted with Dave & Rachel a little more and then they left. We had dinner, Australian burgers – not special meat but shaped into the shape of Australia, although once cooked they were more Isle of Wight shaped!?! and salad, which was promptly followed by a storm – our first experience of this is Oz. Rain like you have never seen it before. Over flowed the gutter and filled a dustbin ¾ full. Went on for an hour but it cleared the air. It has been 37 degrees today. All retired to bed at 9.45. Long day...........
