Halong bay
Only three and half hours away lies the city of halong and the gateway to the world famous halong bay. Halong means descending dragon and goes with the story of how the Islands were formed. By a dragon defending Vietnam against invaders. Well whatever the dragon did, it's beautiful! We went on the fantasea tour for a little bit more luxury and it was just that. Gorgeous twin room with a hot shower and orange sparkly sink. The best food was served with a banquet of meats, vegetables, fruit, seafood and more. The itinerary was to visit a cave which also claimed to be one of the natural wonders of the world then a viewpoint. Next was kayaking around. I teamed up with Ruth from Liverpool and we saw monkeys! The evening was fairly chilled out. It was hard to create a party atmosphere with a few people and although karaoke was put on no one was really into it...
Our second and last day was simply cruising. We dropped off those going on to catba island then headed back. We made spring rolls on the boat and had a huge lunch! But then it was back to hanoi and quickly off to our next stop... Sapa!
