Shaun and Carolyn do Europe!
Hi all
We are back in Amsterdam, a little bit earlier than planned... its a long story so I wont bore you.
Italy was great, we got an overnight ferry from Split in Croatia to Ancona which was fun. Played on some really old computer games in the casino and had some beers watching the stars on the deck. There was a bunch of Italians singing which added to the atmosphere.
At Ancona we were told our train we were expecting to get was not runniing so we had to wait about 5 hours for the next train which meant we would have missed the England match.. oh no!!!! So we managed to pay an extra supplement to go to Rome past Bologna.
We arrived in Rome and followed some very dodgy instructions to ghet to our apartment. When we got there the owner said he would be back in 30 minutes and to relax.. however we soon found out that his time keeping wasnt great.
The hostel was ok, just a small house that had been filled with loads of bunk beds.
We had a couple of good nights with the otyher guests, the last night we found a great spot on the top of a hill where we could drink our beers and look out on the whole of the beautiful city of Rome, someone even had a guitar with him and he was v v good.
We goty up early and went to the leaning tour of Pisa which was cool.
Then we were supposed to go to Barcelona but another c*** up with the trains meant we couldnt get there. So the girl at the info deck said if we get to Torino there is an overnight train to Barcelona so we went to Torino for the night.
At the Torino station we were told there was no train there that day either.
So we thought... sod it.. lets get out of Italy and we took an overnight (without beds) to AMsterdam. And, thanks to a nice bunch of Swizerland fans we were kept awake most of the night, even with our ear plugs and masks.
So, we plan to see Rotterdam and Paris until our ticket runs out.
See ya soon.
