After a yummy breakfast with fantastic views across the Rapollo Bay, we caught a ferry to Portofino via Santa Margherita.
WOW! Santa Margherita was pretty - hillside homes scattered among the trees ... very prettty. We stayed on the ferry, picked up more tourist groups and travelled on to Portofino.
OMG! Portofino was just gorgeous - a tiny little bay with pretty coloured homes surrounding the multi-million dollars worth of yachts and boats in the water! The colours of the buildings and the dark green shutters looked beautiful. You couldn't take enough photos!!
We walked up the steep hill to the Castello Brown - built in the 1400s. The walk was sheltered from the hot sun by lots of trees and a nice little pathway. We then made our way through the small town and looked through the mix of cheap souviner shops and exclusive designer shops. We had lunch at the Trattoria Concordia - most delicious food. We had pesto lasagna, spaghetti marinara and fried sardines - yummo!
We caught the ferry back to Rapallo. David, Monique and Stephanie went swimming with the locals just outside our hotel and beside the centuries old fort. We then walked through the town which, again, had tiny narrow streets with an array of different shops. We had happy hour at the hotel and filled up on the complimentary nibbles. The main road along the waterfront was closed off for Friday night festivities along the foreshore. We all got a gelati - yum!
