Day 24- Mykonos to Preveza
We left Paradise today...mixed feeling about that from me!! We were shuttled to the port and then waited for our ferry...but then found out it had been cancelled!! Josh did some fancy footwork and got us on one of the slower ferries that waited just for us. It was the stereotypical rushed entrance...the officials were holding other people and pushing us on and Josh told us to just move people that were in our way, which worked well! After all the stress of getting on, we all found couches and passed out. The ferry officials kept coming around and trying to wake us up, but a lot of us simply fell asleep again. After 5 hours, we reached the Athens port. Jeremy was originallz going to pick us up here, but because we arrived so much later than planned, he left us to a shuttle and Greek driver so he could save drivers hours for our long drive through Albania tomorrow. The switch wasnt really that bad, the coach we got was more spacious and comfortable and had tvs so we could watch The Dark Knight and pass the time a little quicker. The 7 hourdrive was broken up by stopping at Greeces answer to McDs (called Goodys) and a random restaurant truck stop, where we celebrated Kallees birthday, and we arrived in Preveza at one in the morning.
Day 25-Preveza to Tirana
We left with Jeremy and our official Contiki coach early in the morning...and the day was full of driving! We crossed from the Greek to Albanian boarder, and stopped in a small town along the road. Albania is the second poorest country in Europe, mostly because of its political strife before 1991 rolled around and freedom and democracy were established. Their economic state doesnt stop the Albanians from being friendly though!! The scenery is absolutely gorgeous..valleys, mountains and green pastures..and lots of garbage, haha. A little more of a hiccup occurred for us in our resort booking but the trade was 5 star apartments...not to shabbz at all! I wanna live in a place like that..we had a kitchen, dining room slash sitting room, two full bathrooms and two bedrooms for four of us, plain but the best accomodations thus far. It was Kallees birthday, so we all celebrated until the early hours...lots of fun!
