Well, the next half of my Great Escape has begun!! Kallee and I parted ways on the Underground (SO weird to leave you, Kallee!!), then I continued on the tube to my terminal. I was really early, so I had to wait around a bit to check in my bags...here's where the fun starts! I booked my ticket online, so was supposed to get my boarding pass from one of those fast check-in vendor things...I wasn't in the system! An assistant came over and just checked me in under a Mr C Hansen that was also on the flight that I was supposed to be getting on, which was alright, I guess, except I wasn't a Mr Hansen! I went to check my baggage in anyway...and then the lady mentioned me transferring in some city....which I didn't book. So that lead us to search into the situation more...and sure enough, it was the wrong person, as I'd thought, and my flight had actually been booked for a month LATER than the 29 of August!!!! I was freaking out! So I went and bought another ticket for the flight that was leaving for Copenhagen on the right day (funnily enough, with the same departure time and flight numbebr), paid the fee, and was on my way. Phew. The flight was over before I knew it, and then I met Nanna outside the airport, and we took a train to Svenborg, then ferried over to the island of Æro, where I'm going to be staying for a bit. It was late by the time we got home, so after calling home to say I'd made it, it was bedtime!
The island is a gorgeous place that I absolutely adore. Each day starts with new Danish words to learn every morning.....I've been berry picking, visiting relatives and family friends around the island, gone for a ride on Nanna's three wheeled motorbike, drove the "cadettillac", Nanna's old manual car, helped out at the ridecentre near our house (which is called Sølhjem), had a day of shopping on the mainland in Svenborg, and been the roadie for the accordian group that Nanna is a part of, called Trækkerpigerne. Just this last weekend, we headed back to the mainland to go to an accordian festival in Lundeborg. It was lots of fun to see all the different groups from all over Scandinavia, and it was good to be surrounded by music again, and even to learn to play the accordian myself! I also now have grape-picking in France with a group of kids from one of the island's schools, possibly for a couple weeks, to look forward to! We don't know the exact date we're leaving, but we're supposed to receive a call soon! Before I leave, I've more family to visit on the mainland, which I'm very much looking forward to doing!! See you all soon, and more updates later!!
