Getting started ..... Nerves and extreme excitement
Greater London, UK
So to begin with let me introduce myself.
My name is Candi and I have always dreamed of going travelling.... classic story really, collected countless atlases, travel guides, magazines clippings, scrap books of paradise faraway......until oh the real world hits you, get a job - ambition, drive, passion and extreme dedication to do suceed at work kicks you in the behind like a donkey. Yes yes we all know ..... the world of reality.
Then it happened.
I was lucky on one hand and very unlucky on the other.
Lets start with the good stuff.
I met my new best friend, my soul mate..... if you believe in any sort of equivalent - basically someone I could have a laugh with just as a friend and spend all my time with with all my flaws and blah blah.
I was lucky enough that one day my best bud loved me recalling stories of travelling the world, be it holidays when I could or traveling heavily for work, and we spent hours dreaming of the places we wanted to go.
One day we decided. Lets be part of the few that make thier dreams a reality and risk it all, leave everything behind and every piece of comfort that you call home, stability and friendly faces.
Lets travel the world we want and live and learn whats beyond the borders of our 'dreams'.
The unlucky part, looking back, actually acted as part catalyst for making our 'lucky' decision.
I was working hard in Brand Marketing, when all of a sudden for a period of roughly 3 months, I experienced blackouts..... no rhyme or reason.
After dozens of blood tests, EEG's, EEC , and scans and whatever..... they found I had reactive hypoglycemia - stuff with sugar levels I dont wanna bore you with, and the severity of it differs from person to person.
I was signed off work, and after spending an average of 12-15 hr working, I felt lost.
My thoughts were comforted with travelling ideas and dreaming with my lovely man.
We decided now or never lets go for it.
My best bud then proposed........ we were so happy planning and fully committed to each other, and bouncing off each others energy for the dream.
So we said goodbye, rented out the house, and here we are sipping a glass of red wine at a hotel nearby Heathrow airport......beginning the experience of a life time.
