This morning we headed to Maketu but stopped on the way in Waitomo to see its famous caves and glow worms. Emma and I decided to be adventurous and go Black Water rafting. The entailed us getting suited up in a wet suit with a helmet and head torch. We then climbed down a very small hole in the ground into these crazy caves with stalagmites and stalagtites along with glow worms on the celing. We then went rafting on inner tubes through murky water which I found out later had eels in it, did some hard core caving, floated through caverns in the dark while singing (as the acoustics are amazing) and finally came out the other end! We then met up with the rest of the group and headed towards Rotarua to go zorbing. Yes I put myself in a giant ball filled with water and rolled down a hill - it was like a waterslide and so much fun! We then drove through kiwi and avocado farms to Maketu for a cultural evening. The evening had us sleeping in a communal room and eating a traditional Maori meal. The family then did a dance and some songs for us and taught the boys the Haka and the girls the poi.
