Europe by Campervan:
Many moons ago in our twenties we set off in a campervan and did the "Europe trip". It was great fun, and always the thought that we might do it again lurked in the deep recesses of our minds.
So when the opportunity came up to buy a campervan in the UK, with all the attendant difficulties mostly solved, we decided to go ahead. We have bought a quite small camper - the thought of negotiating narrow roads in both mountain passes and quaint villages in a monster of a van does not appeal! And if we could survive 4 months in a tent through Africa, then a camper in Europe, even a small one, will be luxury by comparison.
The camper is a Fiat and is fully fitted with beds, kitchen, fridge, TV and, importantly for comfort, a shower and toilet. We take delivery early in June and then head off to Europe for a first trip of around three months. We will return frequently to use the camper over the next couple of years, and head to all those places we have never been to before. In fact, there are so many places on our wish list that a couple of years may not be nearly enough!
We'll endeavour to keep the blog up to date, a task which should be a great deal easier than in Africa, and we hope you enjoy reading of our travels and checking out the photos. If you missed our last blog, the web address for that one is www.offexploring.com/cairotocapetown .
