Hello from New York!
Its our last day here, and we thought it would be a good idea to update you all on how we're doing before we head off to the Empire State Building...
First things first - Sorry we missed out on DC. For the nations capital, there sure is a lack of internet cafes!
We had a great time there though. Saw all the sights and almost saw the big B.O. Himself! There was a huge convoy of police bikes and secret service cars down one street and we asked a nearby agent what was going down and he just mumbled "przdnt" under his breath.. So we hung around for about half an hour in the rain but it didnt look like anything was going to happen any time soon, so we moved on.
We had some beautiful weather there, got to see all the big sights and landmarks and even a Panda in the Smithsonian zoo! Theres a lot more to talk about, but I'd better keep it short and move onto NY!
Our Hostel in NY has a PERFECT location! We come out of the door, turn right walk to the end of the road and we're in the middle of Times square! As for facilities, it's fairly basic, but we've finally got computers with skype so can't complain! We've also met a lot of fun people here! We met a 36 yr old guy from somerset the other day and spent the day with him yesterday, we went downtown to ground zero and wall street, and then got the free staten island ferry which goes directly past the statue of liberty! We also met 3 guys from wales who were trying to persuade us to join them on their road trip to las vegas... very tempting!
Should probably mention the bomb scare - It didnt cause too much hassle, the Police were pretty arsey about it all and we were left without a home for the evening - but we used that time to go and see kick ass.. why not!!
We also met up with my contact I'm staying with in Philadelphia - He drove down to NYC to take us out for a couple of nights. On Friday he took us to see Avenue Q which is an absolutely brilliant show and would severely recommend it. For those of you who don't know, it's a musical in the style of sesame street and follows the same ideologies of teaching you about life but is much more adult and down to earth. Including songs such as "It sucks to be me" and "The Internet is for Porn" The following day he took us to see Mamma Mia! now cameron keeps breaking into songs by Abba...
Anyway, we're off to Bermuda tomorrow evening, By that time we'll probably have a new Prime minister... what a weird thought! Will probably update in a week or so.
Missing you all lots!
Cameron and Jerome
