Been a few days since our last update... Not because we've been rushed off our feet though! In fact we've been enjoying a little luxury courtesy of a few of Dad's hotel points to celebrate Chris's birthday!! The Conrad Bali is the poshest hotel we've ever stayed in! We made the most of our 24 hour stay by enjoying all the pools, sunrise yoga lesson as well as making good use of the complimentary 2 hours of open bar! The staff were very thoughtful and gave us a room upgrade, birthday cake as well as petals for the bath!
We've grown so accustomed to the high life that we also decided to stay in some nice hotels (compared to our previous home stays). Our last hotel had a rooftop pool adjacent to the runway at airport. Chris got to watch dozens of planes screaming out of Bali while Nat got to work on her suntan.
Sadly we've fared less well with the food - having twice ordered poorly. Cold noodles with peanut sauce being the worst dish to serve a hangry (hungry/angry) Natalie... Downside to staying in nice places seems to be fewer cheap local eats. Nat also got a bruised back from an overzealous massage which has resulted in a twinged muscle which is causing no end of pain now! At least we stocked up on some good books so she's happily distracted most the time.
We've thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 weeks of our trip which we've dubbed our 'official honeymoon'. Tomorrow marks the start of our backpacking/travel which should feature more of the road and less of the endless massages. Looking forward to our flight tomorrow - although worryingly the airline never actually took any payment for it... Hopefully we'll update you again from Saigon if we have a seat... If not maybe Dad will gift us some more Hilton points and we can go back to the Conrad and finish our way through the cocktail menu!
