We left Udaipur 6pm on 22nd. It was a bit daunting as we were on our own again but the Bogus Journey was really about to start. We took a 9 hour journey to Ahmamabad, we had a sleeper cabin which we shared with a young girl going back to uni in Bombay. We were so happy when she came in and introduced herself as we were so scared the big sweaty indian man who was pacing the aisle and dropping a few very impressive farts earlier was going to be our dorm buddy for the next 9 hours...phew!!!! So we arrived into a very dark and dingey station at 4:30am but no way was it quiet. There was families camping out all over the place and alot of cockroaches and rats running around which unfortunately Ruth failed to miss. We found a waiting room with AC to escape to and began our stopover which was to last 10 hours. We went through many stages of depression and laughter and finally our train came. The next stage of the journey was 7 hours and as it was a day journey it was all seated, we just put the ipod speakers in and drowned out the noise around. Mumbai came after what felt like waiting a whole day.........hang on it was a whole day!!!! We were quickly bundled into a taxi and set of for our Hotel, we quickly realised our driver was absolutley pissed out his head and on whatever else he had taken. He didn't have a clue where our hotel was and drove round the busy streets like a maniac and at one point his door flung open and we so nearly crashed. How we survived this journey is beyond me, Ruth was clinging onto me for her life. The Hotel was, well what can I say a little dissapointing. After all that travelling it really wasn't the place to relax, there was fireworks going off every second which sounded like it was just outside our window and then we realised they were as one smashed through the window and into the room. Welcome to MUMBAI!!!!
Well we leave India tonight at midnight and i can safely say that we will not miss the place for 1 second. We are really glad that we have experienced India and all it has to offer but this place is too much like hard work and for those of you that know us well.......... we dont like work never mind hard work. I would still reccomend to anyone who was going travelling to put India on your itinery but be prepared for the extreme, you really do feel you have achieved something when you eventually leave this place. Sri Lanka beaches here we come!!!!!!
