From Cuzco I took an aweful bus ride to Arequipa. The reason was that I got really, really sick from accidentally drinking tap water. And that was the reason to keep me in bed for the first day in Arequipa instead of going out and seeing the famous arequipeña nightlife.
Anyhow, stayed in bed. Next day (which was Sunday) went by searching an agency to arrange my climb to Nevado Chachani (6,075meters). Couldn´t find one. Though found a person to go with! The next day we did finally get a company to go with (roughly 100$).
On early Tuesday morning we took off to start our trip. Arrived to base camp in 5,400 meters later that day, ate food (including chicken hamburger!) and started sleeping before starting the final phase at 1AM.
Big story short: Climbing was awesome! Got freakin´excited about it and will continue conquering more mountains in the future! There was lot of snow. Too much actually. Couldn´t continue all the way to the top because of a serious risk of an avalanche. So got to 5,950 meters, which is still quite nice altitude anyway, and then our guide told us that would be better to turn back if like security and our lifes... On the one hand I was really really disappointed but on the other hand, this was good while my feet were freezing and hands completely blue.
Turned back and descending hurt so much in my legs coz of bad shoes (started even bleeding from couple spots...) but eventually got back to the tent and rested a while before continuing back to the car and getting to hostel. Great attempt anyway, and surely won´t be my last to conquer high mountains! And some day, I will return to Chachani to get to the top but this time in the summer time (and without snow).
