Right you, have a bloody read 'o' this.......
We spent one day in Adelaide and that day was spent on a wine tour. To be honest I would probably place Adelaide as one of teh most boring towns I've ever been to.....it even beats Ashington - nice scenery, but b***** all to do if you're not that into churches! We went with the Groovy Grape bus to 4 different vineyards around Barossa Valley. It was great! On the way we stopped at 'The Whispering Wall' which is a big dam. The massive curved concrete wall was built in such a way that it traps sound..... Loz stood one end and I stood the other and we could hear each other just by talking and standing near the wall even though we were 300 metres apart we could even hear each other whisper! After many childish jokes and pranks with the sound wall we went to Jacobs Creek Winery and after that I was well away! We started our wine tasting with the first drink at around 9.00am - I don't recommend it! We visited a few vineyards, and one that was set by a little river where we had BBQ in the sun. It was lovely and the vino was flowing. After lunch we hit our 4th and final vineyard which was again very pretty and they let us try which ever wines or ports we wanted... I decided to get some port in me at this point, thinking that this would be a nice change from wine! The views all around the vineyards were gorgeous with rolling hills filled with luscious green vines and small continental style villas. All was great then I fell asleep for the hour journey back to town.....as did the rest of the wine soaked tourists on the bus!
The following day the Groovy Grape bus came to collect us to start yet another tour... this time from Adelaide to Melbourne.
We drove into the Grampian Mountains and went to the national park where we did a few scenic stops. We walked down into the grampians to view sunset over the tree covered mountains. It was beautiful. We stayed in a really cool lodge in a small town in the middle of the forest. It was like a big log cabin where we sipped on red vino round the Log fire mmmm.
The next Day we headed south to the coast and crossed another state border into Victoria. We drove through the countryside stopping for a BBQ on route. As we continued along the coast we came to 'The Great Ocean Road' which we will spend the next 2 days touring into Melbourne.
More to come on this trip in the Melbourne entry!
Hugs and Kisses you little literature fiends!
