3 days after leaving the country and I'm sick. Blocked nose, cough, sore throat. The lot.
I got into the hostel yesterday early afternoon and after a quick, unsuccessful nap, I ran into a group of guys also from the uk, both of us on our way out to have a look around. Joining up with them, we went for lunch and then grabbed a Tuk Tuk to Qutab Minar, a cool tower thing that was built ages ago.
From there we went by Tuk Tuk to Hauz Khas village had a wonder up and down there before finding a burger restaurant in which to have dinner. Having not managed to nap, and technically being awake since 4am meant that there was where I called it a night.
My first impressions of Delhi and India are mixed, it's constantly busy and noisy and dirty. Though it's warm, there's been no sun. And the roads are a death trap.
I'm not entirely sure what the Highway Code is over here, but well there doesn't seem to be one. Drive where there is space, doesn't matter if it's in the middle of two lanes, the pathway or even the other side of the road. And if there isn't any space, the general rule seems to be beep your horn and bully your way into creating space.
From now until the rest of time the beeping of a car horn will be all it takes to remember my short time in India. As I sit here typing this, it's all I can hear outside the window.
