The flight home was not without its excitment as both B and J got lost in Bangkok airport and thought that we would miss the flight home. We checked in so late that that the only seats left were in buisness class, so we were upgraded to a bed seat. Wonderful - how the other half travel. Big thanks to brother John for meeting us at Heathrow airport at 6:30 am for quick return home. Then it was all go as we had to be in Edinburgh the next day for Kerri's graduation ceremony - hire the van to bring back 4 years worth of clutter, see if any smart clothes still fitted, unpack and begin the washing -oh boy. 1000 mile round trip reminded us of Australia, but we did not have to watch out for kangaroos, flooding was the only thing we had to contend with! After 80% humidity and temperatures in the mid 30's that we experienced in Vietnam, Edinburgh felt really cold and where was the sun? Lovely graduation ceremony and great to meet Kerri's friends and fellow neuroscience graduates and their parents. K very upset about leaving Edinburgh as she has had such a wonderful time there - Professor 'RRR' singing her praises and asking if she wanted to a PhD in neuromuscular junctions!!
Can't quite believe that we have been away for over three and half months. All seems the same and so familiar in little ol' blighty. The reality of being away for so long hit us when we saw the state of the garden, which Kerri, Tara, Mum and Ash (Tara's boyfriend) had already attacked - still seeing the jungle like state made us feel at home!
Thankyou all for reading the blog and especially for your messages, it was great reading them and keeping in contact. Hope you enjoyed at least some of the reads. Will be in touch soon by some other means!!
