Our Paris adventure started off by heading to our host's flat. When we arrived the couple (Anne-Lauren and Quentin) greeted us and fed us supper. After supper they had us taste a variety (5 or 6) different cheeses. We had some wine, fruit, and then visited a little more before heading to bed.
We woke up the next day and started off on the subway. It was unbelievable how busy it was, although quite easy to get around. We first headed to the Louvre. We spent the entire morning there, but it would be easy to spend a week walking around and looking at all the art. Apparently the Musee d'Orsay is the better of the two museums, but we thought one museum was enough.
We then walked along the Seine River to the Cathedral of Notre Dame. We were actually in there during the end of the service. The architecture of the cathedral was amazing, especially with all the sculptures and gargoyles.
After Notre Dame we walked through a market and the Quartier Latin. I had a crepe filled with chocolate - delicious!
After that we headed to the Pantheon. It was huge! After we walked through Jardin du Luxembourg and then got back on the subway to head to Montmartre. We made the long stair climb to the top of the hill to see Sacre Coeur. We walked through this cathedral also, but were not allowed to take pictures. Up on the hill is a great view of the city, it would have been nice to go up there at night.
Later we went to Champs Élysées and to see the Arc de Triomphe, which was massive! After that we ended our day spending a couple hours at the Eiffel Tower. We sat in the park just behind it having a beer and admiring the structure. Perfect way to end a day!
Au-revoir!
