Douglas Brown's Travels
DAY 1 Out of bed at 3AM. Despite going to bed at 8PM, my fitness monitor told me that I had only achieved 4 hours of sleep. I fed the dog, cats and fish then waited for Ross who had volunteered to drive me to the airport. Ross arrived and we set off for the airport. Part way to the airport, I realised that I had left my reading glasses home. So we turned around and headed back home. Only to realise when we got there that I did not have a front door key with me. "No problem', Ross said,"I have a spare pair at home. Just take mine" So we set off once again for the airport. I had checked in online so the formalities of immigration and depositing my luggage took only about 15 minutes. This meant I had plenty of time to kill browsing the duty free shops. I was lucky that my Isle seat had a vacant seat next to it so I had plenty of room for the 11 hour flight. Four movies later and we were in Dubai on a 40degree day with dripping wet humidity. The plan is to have an early night tonight as I have an 8:20am flight tomorrow and although it is 4:20pm local time it is 8:20pm by my body clock. The hotel air-conditioning more that copes with the heat and although it is set to 24 degrees, I am freezing in my room. lagle"s farewell gift of a hand knitted alpacca head warmer has come in useful already
