We are off to the blue ridge mountains, after nearly ending up in Baltimore (if you watch the wire) not a good place to go. As we started to get closer Virginia became more and more countryside and vineyards. We passed through a couple of battlefields where the American civil war took place and explained about slavery to lily and Maia. We stopped for a breakfast in a true southern restaurant and Maia has now taken to chewing toothpicks. Not a good look. As we started to embark on our journey the mountains were ahead and truly amazing. Until I realised we were getting higher and higher and higher! Finally we seemed to level out and the views were amazing and the mountains were actually blue. The smells were of fresh pine. We arrived at our log cabin. It was basic but wonderful. The first thing Paul did was try the tv but it only worked with DVDs as they said it was a holiday to promote family time and togetherness. We had a campfire that night and toasted s'mores They are crackers with toasted marshmallow and chocolate. We ate pizza and watched I bought a zoo . Whilst we were in Virginia we went kayaking and the girls kept trying to capsize the boat. After doing most of the paddling we went back to shore and the girls swam in the lake. Out of all the places this was the most beautiful and I would love to come back here.
