Peru is losing control!!!
After the inca (i am in the process of updating that blog but i feel it cant be rushed) i had no choice but to fly from Cusco to Lima because there are road blocks between the 2. Nobody knows how long they are going to go on for and im short on time. I paid about 100pounds to fly. Couldnt afford it after buying a new camera but i didnt have much of a choice. I stayed in Lima for dinner (not heard exciting things about the city) and headed north on a 12 hour bus to a beach resort called Mancora. On my travels from Cusco i met a Canadian bro and sis Erika and Jordan. Erika is only out for 2 weeks but Jordan is travelling South America. Ive talked him into coming to Ecuador with me.
Arriving in Mancora was a goooooooood feeling. I stayed at Loki hostel (its a chain, ive stayed in all of them over Bolivia and Peru). It was more like a hotel, beautiful pool, nice bar area and lovley rooms. Plus we were literally on the beach. I didnt take anytime to hang around...i could hear and see the beach from my room so rushed down. It was an amazing feeling to back on sand after 6 weeks away...the longest time ive spent away from the sea!! It occured to me that id travelled from coast to coast (the scenic route lol) in South America....pretty cool stuff huh??
I was in a room with Kelly and Paul (English couple) Pete (Ozzie) Luke and Rodger (also ozzies). Turns out our room was the party room. I didnt sleep before the sun was up (became a problem as i have trouble sleeping in). The first night i arrived i was in bed by midnight as id been on the road for over 24 hours. At 3am i get woken up by my room mates giggling on the balcony. I couldnt get back to sleep and figured if you cant beat them join right??? I got stoned at stupid oclock...watched the sunrise and went back to bed. It was awesome.
The following day i took a surf lesson, as ive never done it before i figured it would be best. I dont think its much harder then it looks (it doesnt look easy) but it takes alot more stamina then i pressumed it would. Anyway an hour into the lesson i was standing on the board!! But...i get to excited and dont know what to do next. I end up doing a dance with my feet and falling off. haha all fun and games. I took a board out acouple of times with friends. I will be half decent by the time i get to Oz hopefully!!
On the Wednesday night we had a really heavy night. I went to the beach with shoes and came home without them. I took them off coz we had a beach party and i have no idea what i did with them. My bag is becoming lighter by the day!! It was good times tho. The following night the theme was "Ladies night". Basically the girls get extended happy hour and free shots. The boys can have the same privlages if they dress up as ladies. They were all so keen and it was a fabulous night. As usually the party ended up in our room and we were still going when brekkie was being served.
The following couple of nights were abit more relaxed. Went out for dinner bla bla bla. Saturday night we had a big party planned "anything but clothes" id had my outfit planned and was super excited to see what the boys would come up with. There are elections happening in the north of peru so the sellage of alc was stopped and music wasnt aloud to be played GUTTED. Party was cancalled, our hostal sold alc till midight when the police came in and shouted at Drake (the owner). We the brt mass amounts of beer and rum and went to the beach.
The following day im not sure what happened but somethign to do with the elections and protests resulted in the power and running water being cut. Interesting....how can i pay my bil with no computer system?? It lasted alday but sadly the town was back top normal acouple of hours before i left. I think the bar staff had been looking after my and not adding all my drinks to my tab because i think i shouldnt spent more. Still 54pound for 5 nights on the beach inc most food and alc isnt bad.
I am worrying about money and have to start living like a true backpacker. Doing my own watching, no internet cafes (she says sat in an internet cafe), no food....that kinda thing lol.
Im actually in Ecuador now...arrived this morning. Nothing exciting to report except the border crossing was a b****!!!!! It was a night bus and we stopped at 12,1,2,3,4 and arrived at 6. I was soooooooooo tired today.
