Here's a story...apparently during the famine, the poor people were paid one bowl of porridge if they worked on building these walls. The walss vary in height but are literally ALL over Ireland. In the area where I was, they were built to seperate the land in one acre segments. Every person was allowed to own one acre of land, and when the Fathers died, that one acre was split amongst their sons.
