Mostly driving today. Bit annoying that it took from 10:30am to 6:00pm to do only 400km, and therefore we were pitching camp in the dark. The compensation is that we are in a lovely spot, a private farm in Queensland’s Darling Downs. I say lovely even though I haven’t seen the place yet, but it is mixed bushland and farmland set in rolling hills. Tonight the skies are clear at Moree and we've had two soaks in the thermal pools. Nothing better than kicking back in a hot pool under the stars ... its just a bit tricky to stay warm as you're getting out. The sun came out just as we stopped for lunch by the river in Narrabri, and afterwards we skipped some stones across the Namoi. We even saw crocs in the river! Starting to relax now that the weather has fined up, and now that we're out in the wide open spac...

Well, today is the day! Off into the wild blue yonder. Feeling excited and a little apprehensive. I wonder if we'll get away before lunchtime ... and hopefully remember to put the cat out.

Rain. With a low pressure system just off the coast, the north-eastern quadrant of NSW is wet, wet, wet. Now, to be fair, it's only since noon that the rain has set in, but still, not very inviting weather for the first night of an eight-week camping trip -- or any camping trip. So we're in a cabin at the caravan park at Murrurundi, thinking the extra $25 was money well spent. Seems like we didn't get far from home on day one, with 4.5 hours driving ... it feels...

We get fish and chips from Windsor Seafoods every Sunday night from the boys. Yesterday Max said to Debbie, "this Sunday night will be the last decent meal I get for eight weeks!"
