Up early to go through immigration (Again!), have our final buffet breakfast & disembark the ship. It was farewell Thomson Spirit and into central Newcastle with a couple of hours until our train to York. We had 2 at sea days to relax & sleep before arrived back into Newcastle. Both days consisted of lots of laps around the deck, even in the wind & bit of drizzle. Today we were exploring in and around the Icelandic capital. We had a 5hr tour which after picking us up from the ship took us through the centre of Reykjavik where we saw the icons of the city such as the new Harpa Building, the large concrete church & as we headed out of town the Pearl building. Our first stop on the Reyjanes peninsula was a museum which housed a replica of a Viking ship which the Icelandic guy who built it sailed from Iceland to New York. ...

Not wanting to miss out on any potential tours we could do from the little town of Isafjord we got up early, when really we would have liked to have slept in, & headed for the tourist information. The first thing that struck us was that the port industrial area we got out at seemed to be bigger than the town itself.
