We probably would have stayed longer in Sirollo, but with the benefit of the internet, we had booked a great apartment deal right in the centre of Venice, and therefore had no choice but to pack up and head north.
The WiFi, is proving invaluable on this trip, and most of the time we have been able to access it free, either through the campgrounds, or MacDonald's. MacDonald's are brilliant, we haven't eaten there, but we have made great use of their WiFi, sometimes just parking in the Car park, and accessing the net.
We were not sure how to get into Venice, so we just drove out over the bridge and found a huge secure car park( 21 euro per day), and from there jumped on a water taxi, and got dropped off somewhere close to our room.
Venice is such a labyrinth of tiny metre wide streets, that even with a map it is easy to get lost.
That night we wandered down to Piazza San Marco, and were amazed that at full tide , water lies everywhere in the square, and some buildings were inaccessible. It is a lovely time to be in the square, everyone is very relaxed, bands are playing, people are dancing and listening and they all just seem to be enjoying being in Venice.
Venice proved to be the most Touristy place we have visited, during the day there are hordes of ice cream slurping tourists weaving their way through the tiny streets, although the Gondolas didn't seem to be doing a roaring trade.
Venice is a place to wander the streets, poke your nose into all the unique little shops selling everything from masks and costumes to ceramics and glassware.
At the end of our street was a little wine shop that sold 6 types of wine out of the barrel, fill your own for euro1.50 per litre.
