We left Calgary on Saturday the 10th at 12.30pm. Harriet a neighbour of P & S's cooked us a lovely breakfast before we left. We pretty much drove with only very short stops for the next 7 hours. Sues sister Judy and her husband Jamie have log cabin in Beaton which is well and truely off the beaten track. There is no power, cellphone, TV or internet out there. The senery is fantasic but unforunately the biting bugs are an issue. The kids in Pete's car got a great view of a black bear on the way to the ferry, quite near Beaton. Michael got a good video of it. It's real bear country in there. Sue and I saw one that evening close to Judy's. We had super quite late then the kids got to cook marshmellows on a fire by the lake, we got to bed about midnight.
The next day was really hot, we spent most of it at the lake, with kids swimming and Jamie pulling them on the biscuit with his boat. Unfortunately there were a few burnt (and biten)backs and shoulders by the end of the day.
We got up yesterday, packed, had breakfast and left Beaton for Pete and Sues holiday house here between Vernon and Kelowna on Lake Wood and what a lovely place they have. (No insect's here Thank goodness).
We all had a good sleep (except Pete who has bites all over him) and are just catching up with things this morning. Hope alls well in Kiwi Land. Love to hear from you. K,M,C,H,M, & L.
