Hello from the K.L., hope everyones ok. We have had a hectic couple of days so let me get down to buisness and tell you what we've been up to...
After the 1 hour flight from Phuket we had arrived in Kuala Lumpur and instead of jumping in a taxi to take us to the Equator hostel, we decided to make our own way via public transport. Now unlike Sheffield the transport here is really good and always on time, so we jumped onto the shuttle bus from the airport and made our way to the centre of the city to catch the monorail. The hostel is located right in the heart of the city in a place called Times Square and for 4pound a night we have had a bit of a result... By the tme we arived at the hostel it was around 8pm, so after recieving a walm welcome from Philip and Hady (the owners) we dumped our bags in the room and enjoyed a quiet night in with the rest of the guests watching Miami Vice the move. (most of the guests are from Germany and Finland).
The next morning it was time for us to venture out and see the big city sights, so after a briefing from Phill on the best sights to see we headed off to the K.L. tower. Now the K.L. tower standing at around a quarter of a mile tall (the 4th tallest in the world) is'nt the best place to go is you are a bit scarred of hights, Dave!! but we managed to get him up there and the views from the top were breathtaking. The next stop on the trip was the Petronas Towers, the biggest in the world now. Under the towers was a huge shopping mall with a sealife centre, so instead of heading up the towers we decided to pay that a visit and as you can see from the pictures jaws decided to make an aperance... Kuala lumpur has a vast range of local and traditional meals so after the sealife centre we went to sample some, as usual we ended up in mc donalds (again). The next stop was the National musium which should take around 2 hours to walk around, but when people are complaining that their feet hurt (Dave again) after 20 minutes we decided to call it a day and head back to the hostel, stopping of on the way to pick up a few beers. That night we stayed in and played a bit of cards and watched the mighty Blades at 2 in the morning beat Newcastle. What a result by the way. go on the blades..
So onto today, smack bang across from the hostel is times square which has a huge shopping mall, with all the usual shops that you would fined in Meadowhallbut a lot cheeper. As we walked around the walked around the place we couldnt believe what was in there.. two huge cinemas a bowling ally and a theme park(with a huge rollercoaster) bang in the middle of the shopping mall. So we had a day of fun, going to the I-max cinema to watch the new Disney movie Open Season (it was the only one in 3D ahhh) after that we headed for the bowling ally and as i had said in a earlier journal that i was a natural sportsman it may not be true.. I got demolished at tenpin Bowling lossing both games(everyone has a weakness.lol.) We then went to try a local curry, it was no Balti King but for 1pound a meal we couldnt complain.
So here we are in the hostel (by the way dont like having to wash my own pots and clean up after our selves.lol.) waiting for Chelsea to demolish spurs.(daves a spurs fan). So for now i will say good night and take care. xxx
