I continued my study in corn hybrid advertising today. We started at the Mississippi, climbed, and then rolled and climbed through farmland.
I'm quite interested in the signs advertising the corn variety planted behind. Almost all example acres were incredibly healthy looking. I did notice one that looked all uneven and bad. I forget which.
I didn't count, but I think I saw representatives from 6 to 8 different companies. The corn did look quite different from field to field!
Besides farm stuff, I stopped extra long in guttenberg. A cafe with not so good coffee... But I saw a lock in action (#10), an aquarium with Misdissippi river fish (and squeegees to remove condensation), and a store with Iowa wines and smoked fish)
Finally got to Dyersville, and visited the national farm toy museum, how cool! Two favorite bits: a scale model of a factory explained by Susan who designs factories, and a display of corn hatvesing through history. So amazing how fast it's done now.
