after a lot more of that "CUZCOCUZCOCUZCO" nonsense at the bus station, i got myself on an overnighter to the gringo capital of south america, which i wasnt particularly looking forward to to be honest. although i was in a good mood as instead of the usual muck they serve on buses on this one someone had gone out and got everyone a hot greasy takeaway of some sort, which was ideal. ahhh....the good old days when they served food on buses....really took that for granted at the time. oh well, cuzco was actually a very pleasant surprise, although the main square is obscenely touristy, it just about manages to stay tasteful, just lots of tour agencies and fancy restaurants/boutiques, not the mcdonalds/strip club combo that places like prague have gone for. and you dont even have to go to far off the plaza to find a nice quiet colonial town, much of which is built on inca stonework so its all quite pretty and lovely. plenty of cheap local restaurants around if you look for them as well so wasnt even that expensive. pretty much every other day they seem to have some sort of grand parade in the plaza, ranging from school kids to half the local police force, which was quite cool at first but good a bit tedious after a while as its blatantly just for the tourists and tends to impede any effort to walk from one side of the square to the other.
getting quite tired.........will finish this one later!
