Beth goes global!!
Well ive been getting e-mails from ppl telling me to get some updates on so here goes...
been in Hong Kong now for bout 3 weeks n we can just about hold a conversation with leannas family without needing a translater (apparantly we have strong northern accents n they havnt a clue what we're goin on about!)
A couple of weeks ago we took the tram up the peak, this is the highest point in Hong Kong so you can get some pretty decent pics of the city and the harbour. We then took the hour long ferry over to Lantau island which is one of the islands surrounding Hong Kong to see the biggest budda in the world all 220 tonnes of it and the local monastery to see the monks doing there thing n chanting away!
Went over to Kowloon (another island) had abit of a mooch round there n saw the bird market which is basically a street with thousands of birds on where im sure bird flu started!! you can buy massiivvve live cockroaches and grasshoppers n feed the birds.. we passed on that one!
A few days ago we ventured over to Macau which is an island simular size to Hong Kong but connected to mainland China. Saw all the sights including the fort, St Pauls Catheral, took in a couple of museams aswell. Went to a class place by the sea where they have the best chicken n chips ever was proper yummy mmmmm!!
think we are finally getting use 2 the weather tho as it is pushing 30C n gettin hotter n we dont seem to mind to much! had a few beach days on the many beaches over here done the whole baywatch thing of running into the sea slow motion (it has to be done..doesnt it??)
I think thats pretty much the main sights we've done, apart from that just moochin about the island, havin abit of a relax and heading into central to ride the longest outdoor escalator in the world (we buzz for it) its like they dont believe in steps there have em everywhere im in my element!
The 7's ( a whole weekend of rugby n drink waheyyyyyyy) are on this weekend so will update ya after then
