Hi folks,
Ok have done the Inca trail. Never again. So tiring, exhausting and terrifying. They have really not heard of Health and Safety - I tell you that for nothing.
It was absolutely beautiful scenery - valleys with waterfalls, LLamas and Alpacas everywhere, humming birds and loads and loads of butterflys. Gulp!
The paths were tiny with massive drops to one side. It was 6-9 hours walking a day, so slowly up mountains. Then the porters who were carrying 30 kgs would run up the mountain beside you as you were puffing away. Peru is beautiful, and everyone lovely. My spanish increased immensely - ´hot water´, ´toilet´, ´rest´ and ´food´!!
Our group was lovely, 4 scandinavians, 4 aussies and 4 english. We all cheered each other on, as we rose to 4000m above sea level.
So feeling pretty glad I did it!! Had an Alpaca steak last night which was delicious, but lots of cocoa leaf tea here, which I won´t miss!!
Off to Brazil tonight, so first country under my belt and feeling more confident about travelling!!
Next stop Aquacia falls, then Ilha Grande, then Rio.
Speak soon!!
