hello everyone!!!
finally here in nz after an absolutely AWFUL flight that took forever so im now going to bore u all with the story of my flight! left cornwall at 3:45am on the 23rd got to plymouth and got on the train. thetrain then got delayed by a boat on the lines at dawlish(!) so by the time id got into reading id missed the heathrow connection bus, but luckily they run every 20mins or something.\
so onto heathrow no probs only to get to heathrow and realise the flight it delayed by an hour. after check in and waiting and waiting in departures we finally depart two hours later than planned. so onto LA nothing much happening except the in flight entertainment isnt working for 7 rows and im in one of them so theres not much else to do but sleep. get into LA and have to clear US immigration (why exactly i was only in the country for an hour!!) so after retinal scans and fingerprints being taken its more waiting around before back on the plane. and the entertainment is still not working. and theres an american woman over the aisle ordering nothing but straight vodkas. i would also like to add that airline food is HANGING.
after attempting to sleep for most of the flight and receiving a voucher from air new zealand at breakfast because of the "trouble caused" by the lack of entertainment system i arrived in auckland on the 25th jan, completely missing out the 24th jan because of the date line.
so straight to the fat camel hostel where im sharing a room with 2 french girls, a scottish girl and some others i havent spoken to yet. the hostel does a free bus tour of auckland so thats what ive been doing today. first we went to visit the sky tower and watch the people jumping off the top of it, then down to the harbour to look at all the posh boats. then it was over to devonport where we stopped at a beach and got some ice cream, then back off to the pub for lunch. then the highlight of the day oh yes. we were all told to guess a number between 1 and 100 by the tour guy. i said 53 which was the closest to the number 55 he had written on a piece of paper and so i won a free bungee jump off auckland bridge! excellent! ive posted the pics and dvd home so mum, dad and bron u can c them and laugh cos i havent even seen the dvd yet.
anyways more exploring auckland tomorz before im off to the bay of islands for 3 days. ill try and get some pics on the myspak at some point but i dont no when ill have a chance really.
speak to you all soon!
