This was the building where inmates were sent to die. One would undress and be led to a dentist's room where gold teeth were removed. In this room, a gramophone was played at full volume. The purpose of the removal was two fold: obtain the gold from the fillings or teeth, and remove traces of death that would remain after a body was burned. After this, the inmate was taken to either the gas chamber or a small room in which there was a hole through which a soldier would shoot the person at the base of the skull. On the other side of that shooting gallery was the Nazi break room. Once killed, the bodies would be taken to the crematorium. The ashes were either placed in urns once the oven was full or just dumped, as was the case with many ashes once the Nazis realized allied forces were closing in on the camp. They attempted to cover up the mass murder in this way.
