There is a story that a thief tried to take a jewel off a statue of Mary in the church behind us here. When he went to take it, the statue came alive and grabbed his arm. The statue would not let go even after the priest asked nicely, so the only option left was to remove the arm...of the thief. The arm is hung up on a wall inside the church, mummified. Unfortunately it was closed when we went, so we missed the actual arm. The interesting part of the story is that Bethany is a great actress. She was Mary.
