This whole area was full of bunkers for the Nazi high command, including Hitler and Goebbels. When Hitler realized how the war was end, he and his wife committed suicide under the ground here. Goebbels killed himself, then his wife killed herself and their 6 children because she couldn't imagine them living in a world without "uncle Adolf."
