This unbelievably modern structure houses countless shops and rises to outrageous heights. It is modeled on Mt. Fiji in Japan. Most importantly, there was absolutely nothing but waste land here 20 years ago. Our guide, who had lived in Berlin for about 55 years, still couldn't get over the remarkable transformation the city has made since the wall was torn down and the USSR fell with it.
