Ha whats funny is the island isnt even on the map! brilliant! we were staying at abc (air batang)
Ok, so we arrived on the island travelling all day its around 7 when we arrived so the sun has just gone down, we met a nice swedish couple who was doing the same as us nothing booked just travelling and hoping all would fall into place which it did! we walked together onto the path of the island there was no roads just this one path around the island! Suddenly half the bush ruzzled an moved quickly away! a massive what looked like a crocodile! infact was a lizzard an they grow to around 4-6 ft! we all screamed in fear an a local laughed said it was just a baby one!! we contiued to our hotel all luckily booked the same it was lets say a little shabby but sort of went with the moment of where we were i quickly called the double bed climbed up the wall to set my mosiquto net up climbed back down jumped the last ft onto the bed and went straight through it!! was so funny so those 4 days i slept on one side hehe sweet. As we looked around there was no sink an the shower was a pipe hanging out of the wall with cocroaches everywhere but! none of that seemed to bother us we got settled showered went out for dinner with the sweds an had a few beers on the beach good end to a long day of travelling.
Not getting biten through the night i was happy, we went for breakfast on the way out we noticed our whole accomodation had goats around it an the same friendly cat returned to our door everyday it was wicked! plus we saw a lot of the lizzards! so we went for some breakfast which costs at the most 10 ringits which is nearly 2 pounds cheap cheap! we headed to the beach which was white sand clear water lovely.
All brown or red same thing hehe i hired some snorkles as lee had his own an we went snorkling the fish were amazing the water was so clear! i`d say better than the great barrier reef! we were out there for a while an found a turtle!!! we swam down to it swam around it stroked it swam along side it whilst it came up for air it was unreal i wish i had a camera because it was the most amazing thing!! relising we were so far out we swam back done a little more tanning then done more swimming with turtles o so good.
We went back got some photos of the animals at the place got ready for dinner went out an found a nice little restaurant with little lights hanging up was what seemed quite romantic lol, couples everywhere but we didnt care the food was good! We walked along the path found a few bars had some beers another good day.
The next day the plan was to find a place called monkey bay we was told it was a 20 min walk through the jungle follow the overhead cables an your there, so we packed a little food an drinks camera all set. Set off we got to the end of the path started thro the jungle followed the cables slowly the path was going an we ended up following the cables with no path for around hour an half up an down hills so hot i was dripping with sweat!! at one point we were unable to follow the cables so we trailed off down to water, walked through knee deep water to some rocks got to a little cove had a break then contiued. A while after that we arrived the monkey bay had no monkeys an it was deserted!! we couldnt go back so dumped our stuff swam out so far! as we see a boat in the distance this water was so clear visability is like 30 ft! so were snorkling out to this boat and it leaves! quite far out of the bay luckily another arrives we speak to them an they say no worrys on a lift! ace! we snorkled around i got nibbled by lots of fish the guys were feeding them around me so there were thousands! so cool! i felt like a seen from the film The Beach.
We collected our stuff an got a well deserved lift back. brilliant. We had some lunch and snorkled with the turtles again for the rest of the day. Our last night on the island we spent it with the sweds we all had the best pizza each an a lod of beers what a place!
The next morning we woke up at 0630!! a first for hmm possible years hehe, packed our stuff and headed for the jetty to catch the first ferry back to the main land mersing. Leaving seemed quite gutting paradise all around but it was an adventure! our mission today was to get to kuala lumpa the capital of maylasia. So we set off on the boat, surprisingly it was choppy an i felt sick! tried going outside at the back but it was very humid an the boat fumes were terrible! luckily not sick tho 2 hours later we arrived at mersing.
We caught a taxi to the bus depo an i`m sure the cabby was just a normal person making a quick buck! The bus timetables were wrong they leave when they want to, so we caught a local bus which went to kluang south of kuala lumpa it took 2 hours and was the madess bus ride i`ve ever been on! the bus was falling apart the driver was lets say completly nuts! shouting at people at him self! over taking people on the wrong side nearly crashing then laughing! we only just got off alive! We arrived at kluang still hadnt eaten and caught a coach this time straight away! it took 4 hours but we arrived!!! kuala lumpa.
