Hello all, lots of updating to do. Last time we wrote we were in Knysna, from there we went to Plettenburg Bay for a couple of nights. It was a nice little town, we spent some time on the beach and chilled out a bit. From Plett we went to Port Elizabeth, where we were picked up from the Baz Bus by Adrian, Ben's second cousin (or thereabouts!). We arrived late on Friday night, and stayed the weeked and Adrians house along with his wife Maria and their daughter Isabella. They were possibly the most lovely people ever...they took us all over Port Elizabeth during the weekend, we went to a game park, a lion park (where we tried to handle lion cubs but they were in a mood when we went so we couldn't do it. Better be safe than sorry!) They also gave us our first Braai (what we englishmen would call a BBQ)- it was ace!
On the Sunay we moved into a flatlet- owned by anoother friend of the family - Anne. The flatlet was our own little house and they also lent us a Buckie (truck!) to drive around for the week. It was really fantastic to be independent and be able to drive around! We drove to Jeffery's Bay - a surfy place where Billabong is based, they have LOADS of factory outlets selling off cheap surfwear (you would of liked it Jo!) We also went to Addo elephant park and went on an elephant safari- it was amazing they were so close i got pretty scared but only because I had read a story about someone getting trampled by an elephant in 'New' magazine. The next day we went on a township tour- which was an eye opening experience- we were shown a completely different side of south africa than we had experienced so far- e.g . cooking goat heads on the pavement called 'Smilies' (because their lips curl up and they smile when the cook!) We spent another day at the 'Boardwalk' where they had a variety of nice shops, restaurants on the beachfront. Maria took us into the casino and gave ben R20 to play with (about 1.50pounds). Ben hit a few buttons on the machine and managed win the jackpot of R1000!! jammy git. :)
We spent the rest of the time in Port Elizabeth chilling out and relaxing before moving onto Port St Johns on Sunday morning. Spent saturday with Adrian etc again- was a fantastic week and thankyou again Adrian, Maria and Anne, Alan and Isabella if you are reading this!
ooo and Ben also got his credit cards etc (at last!) so dinner is on him- wahoo!
