Hello everybody!
It's us again!
What what a fantastic few days!
Ok so after sleeping the night at Dan's auntie Janet's house (finally some comfortable and clean beds! ahahha) Bekki and I left the following days in Janets car to get to the Hluluwe National Park! After about 2 hours we arived and were checked in by the most tanned white guy youve ever seen! Hes so funny! Anyway after we got ourselves sorted we went quadbiking! This was so amazing! Picture this- Bekki and Dan with giant helmets, goggles, gloved on these 2 quadbikes, followed by Dave the host and 2 gay train drivers from holland whizzing around in the mid day heat through a Zulu village! hahaha such an experiece! We went whizzing through loads of the farm lanes of the local people, letting the young boys and girls jump on Dave's quadbike and taking them for a spin! We must have looked so wierd! But it was so much fun... apart from when we got back we realised how much dust those biked cause! it was so funny Bekki and I were completely caked from head to tail with brown dust, in our hair, in our clothes (in my bra - bekki)! but well worth it!
Then the next day (this was the 27th I beleive) Dave dropped me and Bekki off at St Lucia lake! This is abolutly incredible!!! We went on a 2 hour boat expodition and saw crocs, mangroves and about 25 hippos in a national park area! Then after this Dave took me and Bekki to Cape Vidal! This was a beach set further into a game reserve-on the way we passed a rhino and loads of Impala and Blessbuk! This beach was so beatiful! Golden sandunes surrounded by natural forest and then the most blue sea you could imagine! We all went snorkelling and saw loads of zebra and rainbow fish! And it was like bath water-like 20-25 degrees- but was still really cool and refreshing from the beach air-with humidity reaching around 35 degrees...OUCH! hahaha
After this Dave took us to fishy Petes seafood restaurant! Dan was in his element! Had a plate of 12 kingprawns and chips and bekki had the meat basket! (as you do in seafood joint!)
Then that brings us to today! At about half 5 me and Bekki woke up to get ready for the 6 hour game drive Dave took us on! It was slightly overcast but warm so nice and bearable and perfect for spotting animals (this way they wernt seeking refuge from the midday heat under trees miles away from us!)
about 50 metres into the game reserve we were confronted by a heard of buffalo-they're huge!!! And if your reading this Mum (Drury) I've had "Buffalo, Springfield, again... do do do do do do!" in my head all day!!! I blame you for this!!!
After the 1st hour we had already seen rhino and giraffe and the a little further on we spotted some elephants! Then loads of zebras, dung beatles and all the other crazy animals you get here! and then we saw tracks off the road and as we drove down this hill we found ourselves directly behind an entire family of elephants-they were so close to us!
Cameras both ran out of batteries about half the way through but we still got a few great pics!!!
And that brings me to now! Im currently sat at Dave's desk-updating the blog for you guys! Sun is shining now and I'm baking hot!
Hope all is well where ever you may be!
Love to you all,
Bekki and Dan x x x x x x
p.s. sorry for the lack of recent photos! The internet is really slow on this computer and when we last tried to upload the photos some 'errors' occurred so we didn't get many on the blog! will try to do so on friday - even if it takes all day and night!! lol
