Hello people! Danners ere! Thought I would write the travel blog today! Bex has done it the last few of times and I felt really sorry for you guys! Just kidding!
Okay then so I'll just run through what we've done-including our last week in New Zealand. So here goes!
Reet! Shall continue the story-we left you on the 09/04. So this day was reet crakin! We travelled to a town called Whaketane-pronounced Fack-a-tarney… hehe
On arrival Bex went in search for cheap accommodation whilst I stayed with our bags outside the info centre! Bex arrived back with this really random guy with a missing finger and he took us back to his hostel and it was really quiet at 1st- we were about the only ones there at this time-did get a bit busier but this was cool because for the first time in the last 2 and a half months we had our own room! And it was clean!!! And we had bed lamps and a blind that worked and blankets! Made my day! Seriously-coming away has made us really appreciate every thing we take for granted at home-so here's a little shout out to Mr and Mrs B and Mr and Mrs D!!! We love you guys and miss your washing machines! Any way… back to the story! That night me and Bex pigged out on Pizza.
Next day me and Bex had an early start-we went to White Island-this is New Zealands most active marine volcano. It was incredible. We were dropped off the boat and had to catch a dingy to shore-then we had a guided tour of the sulphur lake and the sulphur chimneys-at one point we were steamed in the face by a vent and breathed in loads of sulphurous gas-was lovely! Though I was gonna die-couldn't breath for like 5 minutes every one was coughing-except Bekki-she was the only one in the group that was just standing there like whats going on?! After this we had lunch on the yacht as we sailed back to the main land… was quite embarrassing we got off at the other end and the captain says to us goodbye my singers! Have fun singing all the way home! Me and Bex had been mp3ing it and didn't realise how loud we were!
Next day we left Whaketane-trecked to the bus depot with all our gear on and headed to Tauronga-hunted down a place to stay-well nice here! Had an amazing view and spent the evening eating fish and chips and stuffing our faces with kebabs! It's a hard life!
Next day was reet funny! Bekki and I paid $120 each to go on a whale and dolphin cruise… 98% of the voyages get to see dolphins and and 85% of them get to swim with them… we just so happened to be in that friggin 2%-not a single dolphin! Just some gannets… well people did see a flying fish but me and Bekki looked away for literally 5 seconds and missed it! But wasn't all bad-got to eat loads of muffins, brioche and fresh fruit and had a good time cruzing and sunbathing on the bow-got soaked at one point by a freak wave… actually we were dangling our feet of the edge and were kinda asking for it! But as if to make it all better when we got home I looked at my receipt and saw that they actually entered the incorrect amount when charging us… it turns out the charged us the equivalent of about 50p each! Really weird and have to double check it on my internet banking! But fingers crossed!
Next day we headed for Auckland! Got to our hostel and did some washing… Well after mud baths, sulphur baths and just generally being in Rotorua our washing bag stank of Sulphur-particularly my towel and after 2 washes our clothes are all really clean but smelly! So we took advantage of the crazy asian lady at the airport the next day to douse us with aftershave and eau de toilette hehe! Was very strange though at the airport we ran into Jamie the Scottish guy who accidentally stole my ipod charger! I was so happy to be reunited with it! Get to listen to music again! And also at the airport guess who we saw… WOLF! From gladiators! Hehehe cracked up laughing and got pictures when we realised it was him! Jealous yet Coops?
So that brings us to Australia! Which we will tell you about next time! Hope you enjoyed it guys! Enjoy the pics! Finally updated them! Love Dan and Bekki x x x
