travelled to sun jaun del sur, on the pacific coast side cus we heard that turtle nesting season was just beginning.
we left about 7pm abd travelled for 1 hour to a protected nature reserve. on arrival we had to walk along the beach just by using night vision as torch lights distract and disorie4ntate the turtles so they may not come ashore. although as i guessed there was a group of americans that had full lights blazing and talking as they do SUPER load so it amazing we saw anything!!!
we came across a turtle who had just began to dig her nest, she dug by using her back flipper to scoop out the sand and then flick it away. her flippers were so flexible, and the hole was really neat. she then started to lay her eggs which took about 30 mins, when she was finished, she started to scoop the sand bacjk into the whole and pat it in place. she then did a little dance on top to compac the sand. when she was happy she then flicked loose sand over the top to disguise the nest, as she made her way back to the sea another bunch of irritating americans came and started taking pictures with a flash which is prohibited as it totally disorintates the turtle and she has no idea which was the sea is. so she started heaDING BACK UP THE BEACH, POOR THING. and blñoomin americans agggghhhhh. we were all so mad. but she finally made it, and was such an amazing experience.
travelling to costa rica tomorrow and not really looking forward to the cost and the tourist trap kinda thing so hoping to get through it uin a few days.
