was quite sad and annoyed that i had to leave Placencia so soon, but the boat to Honduras only leaves on friday so didnt really have much choice. The boat journey across was bit of a pain and an adventure. was getting some water for the journey when the guy in front was buying a Huge bottle of rum, i made a joke that it was early and he laughed and said it made the journey go quicker - so i then asked if he was also going to honduras. yes he was - he was the captain!! left at 9.30am but then stopped on this little island that acts as a kind of port for belize, this is where we had to do immigration to get out of belize.
so sat around in the baking sun for about 1 hour, finally got the exit stamp (my passports looking pretty cool now) and on our way. as soon as we got going the 'captain' opened the rum and poured himself a drink about 95% rum 5% coke!!! he and his matre then sang the whole 2 hour journey - kinda amusing but bit annoying.
finally arrived in puero Cortes (honduras) and got a 'taxis' with 5 other people that would take us to immigration there and to San Pedro Sula - where we needed to get our connecting bus to La Ceiba for about $5 each. the 'taxis' turned out to be a pick up truck with us sitting in back - but didnt have anyother options so just went with it. took about an hour to get through immigration into hondoras and thren on our way.
the bus from San Pedro Sula to La ceiba was AMAZING. they only had a express one and oh my god, it was like an evening out. big seats, air con, a movie, free drink and snacks. but we did have to get scanned and our bags checked on way onto bus. and big signs everywhere saying no guns. hmmmmm - bit disconcerting.
arrived in la ceiba about 9pm, hotel, bed and crashed out after travelling for 12 hours. cant wait to get to the bay islands and do nothing
