Caught the really early ferry from utila - like 6am!!! planning on heading to Tegucigalpa in the center of Honduras. But bumped into a girl i{d met earlier on, on the boat from Placencia in belize called Mirte and shes from Holland, and she was going to Comayagua - just before Tegucigalpa, and it sounded so much nicer there so i went with here. it was nioce to have someomne to travel with and pass all the long bus journeys with. and she speaks excellent spanish - BONUS!!!
spent most of the day travelling but was on quite a nice bus so not too bad. arrived in Comayagua about 3pm ish and checked into a hotel - so much cheaper when sharing - 2nd BONUS. then we went for a wander arounbf the plaza and cathedral. the clock in the cathedral is over 800 yrs old and pretty much the oldest one in the world. to be honest it looked pretty ordinary but hey hey. we walked arounbd a few more churches and took in all the Colonial buildings. the locals were so so nice ( much friendlier than i{ve encountered so far) cus we were kinda off the reguklar backpackers trail, and they were genuinely really interested in us and what we were doing.
went for a really yummy tea at this really cool restaurant that surrounded a gorgeous cortyard. was quite eventful cus the power kept going off - you know 3rd world country and all! but was really nice and the food was so yummy.
oh and we had no water in the hotel, as its only turned on really early in the morning and arounf lunchtime. you couldnt flush the toilets or anything!! travelling to Estali tomorrow with Mitre.
