The return leg of our trip could be termed 'whistle-stop', but I think that unfair; we gave Singapore a whole 36 hours of our time.
Hours well spent? We reckon so. I mean, happening across a juggling otter is enough to fill several days with joy, let alone one and a half. I'll explain.
Daylight hours were spent doing the standard Singapore things - wandering round Raffles Hotel but not forking out for a proper Singapore Sling (Cambodia does 2 for 1 at a fraction of the price), ducking in and out of air-con on Orchard Road, getting lost in a food court and so on. But as soon as darkness fell, we were straight out to the zoo. It was obvious the various fluffy critters were going to leave Claire in a state unbridled joy, but I must concede that the aforementioned otter being able to juggle a can on the side of a recycling bin warmed even a corner of my cynical heart. Leopards jumping up vertical 20ft trees less so; that was just plain scary. The one disappointment was only being able to spot an overweight mouse deer - Tahnee'll know what we mean.
And after that, it was already time to go back to bask in the glorious efficiency of Changi airport, Bangkok-bound.
